We were sitting at eh table, looking for the solutions to 2 problems:
1) create a winter accessory that would be valuable and significant;
2) build up a project to save from waste the tees that are damaged and we can't sell anymore.
Two big challenges that led to one extraordinary solution.
The beanie "THINK." is our first step to a wonderful trip towards a more circular and responsible production on our brand road map.
If you are getting curious don't stop to read.
Here 4 steps to reach our goal:
We selected fabric made with ethical and sustainable standards. As usual.
The beanie fabric is made of organic cotton and recycled polyester (PET).
A good start indeed, but clearly nothing extraordinary new.
--------------------------------------
How to make our beanie different from all that you can find around? The label!
The label must have had a value.
It couldn't be the classic decoration with just the brand name on it.
We sat down and we took pencils, books, papers and we studied how to make a neat and unique design with a strong communication power.
The power a word can convey.
Like that word: THINK.
--------------------------------------
It came the time to produce the label.
We could have simply talked to a factory in order to realize it.
We chose instead to work with a zero km impact, using the fabric from the ruined t-shirts that we can't sell anymore and that are supposed to become waste.
We gave them a second life and we printed on them our label graphic.
Our first upcycling project officially started.
Each t-shirt allowed us to create 28 labels.
--------------------------------------
The last step reminded us how beautiful is to slow down in life.
Sitting at the table, with the background fille with music coming from a vinyl, Luca cut and sewed every label, one by one.
--------------------------------------
It seemed only a beanie at the beginning, didn't it?
Now you know that is much more.
A worn-looking label, perhaps imperfect, but eternally precious.
As precious as a journey, a smile, a thought. Yours.
WAIT!
Don't miss the last part of the story.
You were probably wondering: "What about the used t-shirt?"
Nothing might be thrown away.
The sleeves become little dust rags (we always need them!), while for the part where the old graphics were printed, well... we had a better idea!
A lot of people told us that our graphics would look wonderful also as a piece of art hanging on the wall, so...
here we go!
